My favorite way to start a wedding day (besides greeting my couples with a big ol’ hug) is with photos of your wedding details! This allows me to get my creative juices flowing for the remainder of the day. Usually I will spend 45-60 minutes perfectly styling your details. I love to style details in a way that showcases the overall theme of the wedding, and sets the stage for the entire day! I always recommend setting these items in a box in your getting ready space to have ready for your photographer. That way they won’t easily be lost, and no item will be forgotten.
Your invitation suite is one of the most important items to have in your wedding details. This will include any stationary you send to your guests such as RSVP cards, directions, and envelopes. Quick tip: for a more cohesive and sophisticated look, have your stationary done by a local artist/calligrapher.
Your wedding shoes are just as unique and beautiful as your wedding dress! Don’t let this detail go unnoticed!
For your wedding details it’s important to have all three wedding rings. I will photograph them all together to document the symbolism of the bands and the union they represent.
I always recommend all couples wear a special scent on their wedding day, so that every time they smell it they will instantly be taken back to their special day!
There are often many different accessories at every wedding. The most common includes any jewelry, watches, ties, veil, boutonnieres and cuff links. You may also include your garter if you wish. Not everyone will have all of these items, but the more you can include the better!
This one is really important! Flowers make such an impact to your wedding details, and really tie it all together for a cohesive look. Be sure to ask your florist to set aside some loose blooms or petals for your photographer. They usually don’t mind doing this.
If you and your fiancé decide to write your own vows, I recommend writing your vows inside a vow book rather than a scrap piece of paper. This will allow your vows to be presented in a more visually appealing way, and allow for a beautiful keepsake.
I also love to bring my “do-dad bag” filled with miscellaneous items like ribbons, ring boxes and stamps to include in your details. These items really help tie the rest of your beautiful details together.
If you haven’t yet, begin to collect your wedding day details into a small box as your big day approaches. You’ll be thankful you’ll have one less thing to remember later on!
