I am SO thrilled to be writing this blog post today! It seems like it’s been a long time coming! It’s finally time for me to share Kyle and McKenna’s ENGAGEMENT session! We photographed their session at Tandy Hills in Fort Worth and we had the absolute best time together! It truly feels like yesterday I drove to Stephenville to photograph their college senior photos together.
Just a little back story; I’ve known McKenna for probably about fifteen years now! Her older sister and I were best friends throughout middle and high school, so I basically got to see McKenna grow up. I photographed her high school senior photos, her college senior photos, and now her engagement photos (and soon to be wedding!) She’s one of those special ones who has been around since the beginning of my photography journey. McKenna has trusted me with the highest honor of preserving her life’s greatest achievements over the years. I’m so grateful to be a part of this journey with her and Kyle.
McKenna and Kyle met while attending Tarleton State University. I knew when I first saw them together that they were something special. Kyle truly is such a gentleman and one of the nicest guys. It makes me so happy to see how happy he makes McKenna. They also have a beautiful fur baby named Copper, and I got to have him in front of my camera again, too! I always love it when couples opt to incorporate their pets into their engagement session.
When McKenna and I were talking about the inspiration for their engagement session she was wanting all the soft, neutral, relaxed and romantic vibes. I just love the white and denim combo that perfectly accentuates that aesthetic. The tall grass fields brought in that Texas country appeal, and we had the perfect sunlight to cloud ratio. I’m talking chef’s kiss kind of light! I love being able to see the blue in the skies and how soft the light is on those days. It honestly already looked like fall at Tandy Hills even though it was Labor Day weekend! We definitely needed some rain, and boy did we get some…
Right before our session started we were worried about a little downpour. Luckily the rain held out until the very. last. moment. As soon as McKenna and Kyle wrapped up their last pose it started raining. If you’ve never been caught in the rain before- trust me, it’s just as much fun as it seems in the movies! We had to race back up the hill to avoid getting soaked! But by the time we reached the top we just embraced it.
I pulled my camera back out of my bag and we took a few more photos in the rain. There was a beautiful sunset right over downtown Fort Worth, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. It felt like one of those moments where God just winks at you.
McKenna and Kyle, thank you for allowing me the true honor of being your photographer throughout the years! It is my biggest joy to watch the two of you grow together and see your relationship blossom. I’m so excited about your new life and new opportunities in Austin, and I can’t wait to see all the blessings God brings into your marriage. I am counting down the days until your wedding day! It’s going to be one of the greatest days ever!!!!
xoxo Alyssa
