Roaming the streets of Downtown Dallas is something I don’t get to partake in too often, so I LOVE getting to photograph at new locations with new people! Haley and Brendan reached out to me to document their five-year wedding anniversary, and explained that the photos from their wedding day were unusable due to a technical error. I could completely relate to them right away, as me and my husband also recently celebrated five years of marriage this past summer, and don’t have any wedding photos of our own. I may not understand what it is like to have your wedding photos ruined (literally cannot even imagine the heartache) but I do know what it is like to not be able to look back at all the beautiful moments captured on your wedding day. Your wedding only happens once, right?
I knew this was important to Haley and Brendan, so I had to make absolutely sure to give them some of the most beautiful images I could to document such a big milestone in their marriage, and I think I came through! Our feet may have been killing us by the end of the session, but it was worth the blisters to adventure around downtown and discover some beautiful new places and hot spots. We started out by wandering the street next to the Winspear Opera House, followed by some quick spots at Klyde Warren Park. We truly couldn’t have had a more beautiful day in December with it being sunny and 70 degrees. All was perfect, and we had such a great time. I also may or may not have gotten super giddy seeing fall foliage in the middle of the city! It seemed like such a rare and beautiful sight, but not as beautiful as the way Brendan smiles at Haley and whispers “iHop” in her ear.
Haley told me they celebrated their wedding day with pancakes at iHop, and decided to continue the tradition for their anniversary after their session, which I LOVE. Every wedding is different, and every couple has a different story, so finding what is true to you and celebrating that bond with one another I think is the most unique and beautiful thing.
Haley and Brendan, thank you so much for choosing me to capture your love for each other during your first big milestone. I hope your images are more than what you hoped for, and I pray you two will cherish them forever. I wish you both so much happiness, iHop dates, and many many more anniversaries ahead.
xoxo
Alyssa
